A bit meta, but I was recently invited to present a workshop on presenting at the Right Door—an office space and community of independent therapists, speech pathologists, educational tutors and consultants supporting the educational and mental health needs of children, teens, families and young adults.

From its inception, Rebecca MurrayMetzger, founder of the Right Door, envisioned the office’s beautiful waiting area as a meeting and workshop space, and saw the in-service as a way to support Right Door practitioners in developing a presentation that both would serve the wider San Francisco community and attract clients.

In response, I designed the following interactive presentation:

The Easier Way to A Stellar Talk

—Discover an easy, go-to framework for creating a spot-on talk that can win you the clients you want.
—Get clear on the meaningful change that you’ll create for your audience.
—Hone in on your audience’s beliefs, resistance, and goals before you craft your talk or workshop. This is where the magic happens.
—Keep things fresh and relevant, with the right kind of “story insights” and talk structure to support your main points.
—Leave your audience with a message they’ll remember—and love to share with others verbatim.
—Move yourself (and your audience) from stuck, stressed, or second-guessing and into enjoyable action.

And because it’s always easier to learn by example, I suggested we workshop the creation of a talk of one of the practitioners at the Right Door, so everyone could see the framework in action and how they might use it immediately for themselves.

Ahead of time, I met twice by phone with the therapist who was delighted to volunteer and have her idea workshopped. The in-service was well-received, and had a wonderful collaborative vibe as practitioners conversed with each other, and contributed ideas to their colleague.

I look forward to offering this in-service again in the future. If you are interested in such a presentation for your team, please reach out.
