In the online communications realm, there's nothing quite like that feeling of finally having the ABOUT page you’ve always wanted. The one you know was meant for you—and that creates meaningful change in your business. This change can mean new clients, easier sales conversations, and the ability to raise your rates. It’s also often accompanied by new momentum, creativity, and energy.
What’s often overlooked is that an effective, swoon-worthy ABOUT page is not created in isolation. Rather, it exists downstream from other foundational, identity decisions about positioning, niche-ing, and defining your ideal clients.
As part of this process, I recently helped my client Carolyn identify her own ideal niche and client.
Looking at her practice, passion, and people, it became clear Carolyn specialized in helping her clients free themselves from having to plan their day around their pain. We explored her ideal client’s mindset in detail, including their desires, frustration, fears, beliefs, and hopes.
We then created a new ABOUT page that let her ideal client know they were in the right place, that she understood them well, and could offer them a way to bridge the gap between where they were and where they want to be. The change has been impressive, and immediate.
From Carolyn:
“In three short weeks, I’m seeing twice the number of private clients. I find my phone discussions with prospective clients who contact me after reading my new website (and ABOUT page) have a very different feel and focus than before. They seem to be wanting to do the work, and some have already decided that they should make an appointment with me before we've even talked!
I needed an ABOUT page with a good message about my work and what makes me unique—and different from other Feldenkrais practitioners. And now I have one.
I also feel much better in speaking or writing to new clients about the benefits of Feldenkrais and what I can offer them. I now discuss with my clients a package of 10 lessons instead of just individual sessions. It helps both their commitment to the work and it helps me in planning their lessons and what I will teach them. Thank you!”
